I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Linguistics of the University of Chicago to develop a project on degree modification. Until August, I was a postdoc at the Graduiertenkolleg Satzarten: Variation und Interpretation at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität - Frankfurt. Before that, I was a postdoc at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in the project “Semantic composition with enriched lexical representations” (dir. Louise McNally). Previously, I was a doctoral fellow at the Universitat de Barcelona in a project called "Syntactic (a)symmetries in Catalan and Spanish" (Centre de Lingüística Teòrica, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, dir. M. Lluïsa Hernanz). I defended the PhD thesis called "Wh-exclamatives in Catalan" with supervisors Xavier Villalba and Louise McNally, and exclamatives are still my favorite object of study.

Research

I was educated as a syntactician (principles and parameters, minimalism), but with time I've grown to be a fan of semantics and pragmatics. Here is a list of topics in which I am interested:

  • Exclamative clauses
  • Expressive meaning
  • Semantics and pragmatics of non-declarative clauses
  • Syntax and semantics of degree
  • Sentential mood and illocutionary force
  • Interrogative clauses
  • Wh in situ

Another area in which I am interested is language diversity.

  • Endangered languages
  • Field methods
  • Syntactic typology
